Ink-dark and richly detailed, this navy vintage Persian-style rug gives a dining room or snug the depth of a library at dusk. Beatrice traces Agra-style scrolling vines and palmettes in blush, ivory and dusty blue across a deep navy field. The lighter wash keeps the pattern crisp, while the subtle sheen of the low pile makes the colours glow under lamplight.
Palmettes and looping vines pick out blush pink, ivory and dusty blue against deep navy, all held within a framed ivory guard border. As a navy rug it sits beautifully with dark panelled walls, mid-century walnut, ochre or rust velvet and aged brass. How do I clean and care for an Heirloom rug?
Vacuum regularly on a low setting without a beater bar or rotating brush, working with the direction of the pile. Blot spills straight away with a clean white cloth, then spot clean gently with cold water and a little mild detergent. Avoid soaking or scrubbing, and use a professional rug cleaner for deeper cleaning.
Will the rug shed, and how thick is the pile?
Heirloom rugs have a flat, low and finely detailed pile, so they sit neatly under furniture and most doors. Like many new rugs, they can release a few loose fibres at first; this settles with regular vacuuming. The washed, distressed look is part of the design rather than a sign of wear.
Can I use an Heirloom rug on a hard floor or with underfloor heating?
Yes, they look lovely on boards, tiles and stone. On hard floors we recommend a good-quality rug underlay to help keep the rug in place and add comfort underfoot. With underfloor heating, choose an underlay made for that purpose and check your heating manufacturer's guidance first.
